max mel is it any good

Ok I'm very new to this and was wornding if with the em. the max mel method if you still need box keys and tsop look and jtag and all that. If you could point me in the right direction for this method it would be helpful

there's a site call m24c DOT net got good info on max/mel. Boxkey, JTag you do need.

Locks of any kind? Since I am new, I rather wait because it takes great care to put the locks on (I've seen a few on here that damaged their IRDs). Also I hear that some of the older lock doesn't give much protection because they can detect it some how.

FYI, I just got ecmed on my first max/mel test so now I have to wait for the IRD to update but that haven't convinced me to find a lock yet. :-)
