What Mod or Mods?

What Mod or Mods can I do on a 301 010 IRD, besides cutting a slot in the bottom for the JTag?

No 001438 nothing extra just want to get the "CharlieJoy" and I didn't know if I should put a Lock on it or what to do with it to feel reasonably "Safe" in testing!

You don't need to do the vid mod on that one, and personally, you don't really need to do a TSOP or EEPROM Lock. If you are going to go to the trouble of soldering inside of it, why not just solder in a permanent Jtag, use a softlock on the TSOP, and when you get ECMd, the worst you'll have to do is a quick ECM fix via the Jtag, and in many cases, you'll just need to pull the plug and then back in again and you'll be watching TV.
If the Jtag is built in, then you'll just have to hook up an external cable and go if you need to do more than above. I have a DB25 port I added to the back of my 010, and all I do is take my laptop to it instead of bringing the receiver to my desktop PC.

Thanks freq for your help! Now I am reading about softlocks. Maybe I will get it, I hope!
Also I guess U don't or can't do a Junkyard fix on this IRD like U can on a 2700, maybe not needed?
