I was able to get a Rom 2 card and a Model 2200 receiver, is this ok to start out with? If so, what equipment will I need to get? I'm not real sure about the JTAG port.

These Do Not Have A Jtag Port. First You Need To Make Sure The Receiver Has The Latest Updates. The 2000 (2200) Is At 7.12. If You Can Not Get It To Update, You Would Be Better Off Getting A Jtagable Receiver. If It Updates Or Has The Latest Firmware, Get A Digitial Lock Installed To Protect Te Tsop From Being ECM'd. Not Easy Or Cheap To Repair. If The Rom2 Card Is The Original Card For The Receiver, You Can Retrieve The BoxKeys From The Card.

The receiver has not been receiving any signal for at least 3 years. If I can't use this receiver, what models can I use so the Rom 2 card will work, or does it make a difference?

Hook It Up To The Satellite. Make Sure It's Set To Upgrade Without My Permission In The Upgrade Section In The Menus. Exit Out Of The Menus And Turn Receiver Off. Wait For It To Update.

Let's See If It Will Update First before You Trash It?

All Receivers That Are Subject To ECM's Should Have Digitial Locks Installed To Protect the Tsop. Easier To Pull Card And Re-Insert Card Then To Get The Jtag Hooked Up To Repair ECM.
