box keys keep chaning with jkey

I have a 3100 receiver and I've been jtaging it consistantly and getting a different box key eveytime, whats could the problem be? I've used ever jkey

Make sure that you have good connections and that you aren't using too long of an extension. Keep everything short as possible. Try plugging the Jtag directly to the LPT port.I haven't got an extension on it.... the ird# and boxkey seems to change everytime. I know what my ird# is but can't get it to read the box keys... I wish they would stop changing... can't seem to find any help though the searches.

I have never heard of one doing that before. Do you have a pogo pin type Jtag, or is your's soldered?
thanks for the help guy finally got it, the ird comes up fine 80% of the time and the box key comes up 50% of the time... I hope I can get it to backup...I have no ppv though

If you are using the battery pack power supply, get fresh batteries for it......

thanks for the replies, I got the ppv problem fixed... But still can't seem to read the TSOP correctly. I'm thinking that it maybe a result of having a unbuffered JTAG, I've ordered a new JTAG and am going to see how it works out... I'm really nervous about keeping my ird in the stream without a reliable means of programming it... I wish I was confident in my soldering skills....
