Ok I have Dish 500 both birds are locked in. I am picking up a SW21 switch today. I was wondering I have 2 receivers that need to be hooked up. Can I use a regular splitter (amp) To split the signal in the house. or do I need another switch?

you must have another sw21 switch, if you use a splitter it will effectivels split your signal strength in half.......and that is not good

A very good rule of thumb for sat signals is NEVER use a regular splitter, NEVER. Find out what you need and get it, but FORGET about regular splitters.
Sat signals from the lnb's are digital and polarized, or stacked, depending on the lnb type, and require signals or voltage from the receiver to function correctly, regular splitters just are not compatible with that..

www.18inch.com has a lot of good diagrams on all types of hookups.
