confused with 2700

Okay so I have a 2700 ird
I made a simple jtag. I have checked and re checked and rechecked all soldering points and everything looks good.
I tried a early version of jkeys and now tried 2-9-9.
When I run jkeys on p port at 0x378 I get 0x00000000 unknown device
If I run it at 0x278 on p port I get 0xffffffff same on 0x3bc.
computer is running win98.

I am kinda scared to buy a jtag because of bad stuff about dave and law suits. Are jtags even legal I see them beeing sold on ebay. I bought this unit of ebay. could the unit be bad.

I have tried this thing on 4 different computers.
my home built running winxp pent 4 1.8
my old hp pavilion with athlon processor win98
my sis gateway running win 98
my compaq laptop xp pent 4
all three pcs had the exact same results wich is why I am suspecting the ird.

Sounds a lot like me, man. I've tried all the stuff you have on my 2700 to no avail. Jtags are legal, they can be used for a number of purposes, but sounds like you have it hooked up right. Sopunds like a connection or ground problem though, if you are getting 0x000000, because at least jkeys is detecting something i think. 0xFFFFFFF means jkeys things nothings there at all. Let me know what works for ya.

Listen if you get a 0xFFFFFFFF while trying to use Jkeys its means simply this...Jkeys is not seeing the jtag period...Disconnect the Jtag and click on detect on Jkeys...you'll see the same error message 0xFFFFFFFF ... I'm having a similar problem with my "3700" from trying to "Tag" from the Top of the CCA (board with cover off IRD)... What I've found I'm definately connect wrong to the wrong set of
pads (19,15,13,11,9 and 20or 18) If I had tageed from the bottom with my "Header" soldered to the padsjust to the rear of the ground pad I would have not gone through the headache I'm experiencing...
Jtags are not illgeal just be careful whom you buy from...Overseas is great but alot of overseas sites are Slowwwwwww in getting product to you.... but reliable
