I was installing a dish this weekend and for some reason I could not catch Sat 119. I picked up 110 over and over and again but after doing a check switch, it kept saying only one sat detected. I'm using a SW21 switch, the IRD detected the swith box but it would'nt pick up Sat 119. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

have u tried connecting 119 to your receiver directly.... without the switch... to see if you have the dish pointing correctly?

if you are definitely pointing to 119 correctly.. i would swap the 110 and 119 feed on your switch... maybe 1 side of your switch is bad?

that's the first things that come to my head....

Yes, did try connecting direct but no luck. Picked up every other signal (bell, 110 . . ) but can't get 119.

It's Your Aim (Settings). If You Have The 110 Locked And It Shows Up In The Check Switch Screen Corresponding To How It's Connected To Your SW21, (#1 Input Will Be The First Two Boxes And #2 Will Be The Second Two Boxes), Check Your Skew And Elevation Settings.

Well I'm pretty sure my skew, angel and azm. were correct. I tryed both cable coming from the dish, did the check switch and only get 110. I try one cable and the 110 is on the left two boxes. Try the other cable the 110 is on the right two boxes. Hum......I don't know it just wont get.

Does anyone know if i can aim a dishpro 500 dual lbnf like a normal dish" make skew 90 level and then set elevation and point it as per the on screen information? or is the dual lbnf offset on the mast and willnot aim like a normal singal lbnf would? and would somone know if it is offset what i can do to offset it to a normal dish? Im hoping to mark down 110 and 119 the place dish in middle and turn skew till i get 80/80 or somthing

I had the same problem 119 was a b***h

I finally got it by taking a receiver and TV outside.....
I had to change transponders before I got the 119 signal as it would not come in at all on some transponders

Some transponders are spotbeams and will not have signal. Use transponder 11 for aiming, It has signal everywhere.

Damn, that trans 11 will help a lot! I cant find either bird. Is it really necessary to hold the dish at a single spot for a few seconds, or does it just take a split second to get a signal when moving it around?

I found that to point a Dish 500, I needed to insure the post the dish sits on is vertical with a level. Then set the skew and elevation to the recommended settings for the area. Then turn the dish to the right of where the bird should be. Use a compass to check this, but make sure you are not close to the dish. The dish seems to affect the compass.
Check the switch. You should come up with (xx xx).Set the receiver to sat 119 and set the transponder to 11 Now slowly turn the dish to the left (counter clockwise) until sat 119 begins to show up. As soon as you see 119 stop turning and check the switch. At this point 119 and 110 will show up.
My friend was having the problem of not seeing the birds for two evenings of dish pointing. I loaned him a small magnetic torpedo level, a compass and gave him this instruction. He came into work the next day and said it took him 10 minutes and he was done.

You should see in the check switch menu:

INPUT: 1 1 2 2
SATELLITE: 119 119 110 110
POLARITY: ODD EVEN ODD EVEN

will someone please answer me on this? Its driving me nuts. Does it take sitting on the right signal a few seconds for it to show up, or is it right away that I will see or hear an audible signal that im on it? cant find 110 OR 119...grrr.

livnitup731 ,

PM me with your location , I am no Dishnet expert ( yet ) but I have a feeling your elevation is off , too low or too high ??

If it is set right you will get a signal when you swing the dish left or right , I had the same problem ...
