I am subscribing to dish and I know they are probably going to install a dish 500. I was wondering if someone could tell me what are some recievers that are compatible with a dish 500 and still can be used to test with. Thanks

Dish500 will work with all IRDs....
What you need to worry about is whether it has a DishPro LNB or legacy LNBs.

Almost all new installs are now DP Pro 500 or superjunk, You will also most likely get the new 311/322/522 cardless irds as well.
Dp pro dishes only work for DP series receivers 301 and newer.
60 bucks is cheap for DP adapter, Dealer cost is more than that, Cheaper to swap lnb/Multiswitch usually.
