I've got a standard setup 2800 (eeprom and tsop locks) with open Rom3 (blocker) using Dish 500 with dual LNB (switch built in). Can I use a SW-21 and my old Dave dish to pick up the 61.5 channels? Will a 2800 accomodate 3 sats? Will I need to set anything up with my IRD or card? Thanks in advance.

i believe the answer is yes to all of the above....
anyone to second that?

You can add a SW21 and a regular dish only if you have a twin LNB on the 500. A Dish twin LNB is one with 2 eyes in one housing and only 2 outputs that has built-in SW21. Otherwise you will need a SW64 switch. Go to 18inch dotcom and see the diagrams in Wiring Diagrams for: (( Multiple Dishes )).

Works good, I use a 500 twin and a dtv dish with a sw21 for this. 61 has additional locals, Charlie inside channels, More ethnics, And a ton of holy roller christian stuff. You will want to add the 61.5 tiers to your cards for what you want to get. Run check switch after connecting it and it will say found sw21 3 sat location, should see 61.5/110/119 odd/even now.
Oh, Aim the 61.5 connected directly to the ird first, when it's locked then connect everything back up.

If you're on the west coast use the 148 sat instead of the 61.5. Same programming, better signal strength.,

i have the 2 separate lnbs on the 500 legacy dish. can i not hook those two onto the 21 switch, then plug the output from that to another 2 switch that is also plugged into my direct tv dish at 148 degrees? It seems from what i have read that the 500 twin head has the 21switch built in. anyone have any answers?

No, Each switch needs to be a dif model or the ird cannot control them separatly. the built in sw is a 500 switch, Not a sw21. You would either need to change your lnb to a legecy 500 and then add the sw21 on the dtv dish or go to a sw64 switch.

dont you sleep birdie?

thanks. i was just doing some research on the web and it looks like the 21x can be used to combine 119 and 101. then take that output and put into a sw21 with the dtv dish on 148 and spit that output to my receiver. am i right?

Off to sleep soon, Yeh bad night owl again here....

As long as each model switch is different it should work. Never heard of 21x switch??
a sw21 into a second sw21 will not work, both switches will flip at the same time screwing it up.

Never hurts to try, Right?? It's what testing is all about. I would connect the 148 direct first and aim it, The hook in the switches, Then if it doesn't work you at least aren't trying to aim a dish forever for nothing and know the switch setup needs to be changed and not dish aiming problem..

Yup. Try sw21x with 119 in sat 1 slot, 110 in sat 2 slot.

Output sw21x to sw21 sat one slot. 61.5 (or 148) to sat 2 slot.

Output sw21 to ird.

As suggested, aim first with no switches. Then wire switches and do "check switch". It works.
