Hi
I am new to dish. I used a jteg to get my ird number
R 00 ( Edited by Birdie, Don't post your ird number man!!)...........
When I use the calculator on my computer I enter
both ways I get this
Error message 020 "The card you have inserted is not valid for use in this receiver."
Problem: Wrong ird number put on card
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

drop the r00 and the last two digits 47.
Use the center 8, convert those to hex, add a zero first and the hex number.
Edit your ird number off the post man! that is trackable to the original sub person by charlie!

Here is how you figure it. Lets say that your IRD number is
R0027316735-42. To get the HEX equivalent, open calculator in windows, click on the view
tab, make sure that scientific is selected. Then on the calculator screen make sure that DEC
is selected. Now type in your IRD number. (Don't use the R, the first 0's, the dash, or the 2
numbers after the dash. (Example: you would enter 27316735.) Once that is entered, select
the HEX button. You should now see the change to the number you entered. If you did it
correctly, you should now have the following 1A0D1FF. Now, since IRD HEX numbers are
4 bytes (8 digits), and we only have 7, we must add a zero to the beginning. So your receiver
number R0027316735-42 in HEX would be "01A0D1FF". Also, remember when dealing
with code of any type, the only valid characters are, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0, A,B,C,D,E,F. If you
see anything other than these in any dump, info, or script you are working with, something is
wrong. Lastly, when reading or applying IRD numbers to card, they are wrote backwards.
So your IRD hex number above would be read or wrote as "FFD1A001".

I have to psot this and I am sorry if anyone is offended, not my intention. But it seems like we are getting lazy in our rush to get free tv. Why in God's name would you post your receiver number on an open forum? I hope everyone realizes that just like dave, charlie reads what we do. And I must say that I feel that we are getting a tad too carless lately, like we have let our guard down. For the most part dave's tactics have worked, charlie can certainly immitate what dave has done in the past. In the h card emulation days it was a little difficult getting things set up, but later things got easy, and even easier with the hu card. Lots of people started tesing dave, and dave didnt like it. I dont begrudge anyone for one second making a living of this hobby, for it is necessary, but the easier it gets the more attention we attract. And I fear with the mass attempted migration of former dave testers, charlies patience is going to grow thin very quickly. Not to mention the acceleration of new technologies to thwart the newly migrated masses. I have thoroughly enjoyed the learning curve that this hobby has offered, and I really dont mind paying for some services, which I do, keeps some consistent tv in the house and the wife and kids happy. I guess in essence what i am saying is i would like to see testing remain a little bit more difficult and the info somewhat in the background so to speak, not so open and in the air for everyone, then like dave got to in the end. I would ask too that (including myself) that we not cater so much to the free tvers, yes I know we were all newbs here at some point, but I and others invested a lot of time, reading, testing, and many failures to achieve the level that we are at. But to me that is what this hobby is about. Winning the game, not free televison. I guess to summerize this long post to which i appologize for, lets be carefull what we say and lets read and search before we post redundant questions. Again this post is not intended as a flame towards anyone, but merely a reminder of what happened to those in the dave game and those who were careless amd got burned. Learn the lessons of history. Think before you post. People are watching. Thank you and happy testing.
