I am not sure if this has been asked before. But here goes!!

I have two crystal based iso programmers, I have replaced the crystal with the dish one (3.6864 Mhz), both will get a valid ATR and will try and read the cards,
but will fail on getting the backdoor password (all cards are ROM3). Is there any
other components on these programmers that need to be changed to make
them more compatible with dish cards. By the way, I know the cards work, and can be opened, because a friend brought over a dual crystal programmer and it works fine with the cards.

Any light you can shed on this would be welcomed.

Let me answer my own question. I swapped the MAX232 chip with a 14C232 and it works fine now..

I actually have used my old H programmer NexGen the PS2 powered version, with great success. I used it to read and write to dish cards without doing any changes to it.
