I have a 4700 IRD and a 500 dish..I tried to build a jtag courtesy of Chupy and i have two questions

1. Does the IRD need to be connected to Dish to retrieve Jkeys or just plugged in?\
2. I tried to retrieve jkeys with IRD just plugged in and i get Oxfffffff?

What does this mean?

I checked all my connections and it seems to be ok i think.

Any advise greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It does need to be pluged in and not to sat feed and the error you are getting is because it's not detecting device(unknown)

Thanks Terry. But how do I fix?

Is the TJAG is connected correctly? If you are using the latest version of Jkeys, the default connection may be for a serial cable instead of the parallel cable. Check that out. There are plenty of good help guides for how to do it also.

Thanks himeros.

I am using the latest version of Jkeys and connecting to the parrallel port , the printer port on the comp..

If this is not right please direct me to the How to use the new jkeys?

Also would I need to change the db25, since it only goes to the printer port?

Sorry questions may be novice but so am I. Thanks again.
