2700 Light Blinking Pattern...see inside

I am a newbie and to this point the whole experience has gone fairly well. I have run into a roadblock in trying to update to the latest firmware on a 2700.

The 2700 has a digital lock that I purchased and installed from modchipit.com.

Writing to the flash works fine after installing a 33 ohm resistor to replace R259 that was originally removed.

Restreamed yesterday after erasing SA5 for 8 hours. I then read about removing wires from the digital lock. I now have both the WE0 and WEI wires unsoldered from the lock.

The 2700 has been in the stream for 12 hours and has the following light blinking pattern. The complete cycle takes about 30 seconds.

Blinks 4 times
On 7 seconds
Off 2 seconds
On 5 seconds
Off 1 second
Blink
Off 11 seconds

It does not seem normal for an update to take this long. I have read in other posts about it taking 3-4 hours.

I read in another post that someone soldered the (2) WE wires together and this worked for them. I may try this as I'm running out of options.

Anyone have a CARJ or a CARA bin file with the latest software they can post for Dish???? This would at least get me going for now.

Got the problem taken care of and the software then updated within 2 minutes. I'll post the 2700/2800 CARA bin file later today.

I found the answer at http://id-discussions.com/index.php in the forums. There is a 40 page thread on this topic titled "Forcing you IRD to update regardless of anything". I got about 3 pages into the thread and tried what was suggested. It involves editing your TSOP file with a HeX Editor. It is a bit confusing at the start of the article but becomes clearer as you read more into it. The update from 766 to 797 with the IRD in the stream took less than 2 minutes to complete. I bet I have over 20 hours searching and working on this problem. Onto the the next challenge...and that is producing a good tier.
