rom2 what channels does it not get

okay. Just got my jtag and iso. Gonna start learning this stuff. I read somewhere that rom2's cannot be locked. My question is, that I read they recieve fewer channels than rom3 or rom10. Can anyone tell me what channels they dont get and any other downsides. I am manily interested in sports and porn as most americans are.

Also what are the downsides vs upsides of rom2 vs rom3

Rom 2 will get any channel any other card will get.

The amount of channels is the difference.

Channels are turned on by bits of code called tiers. Cards have a limited amount of space on them to store these tiers. Multiple channels require multipls tiers.

The rom 2 only has enough space to put 38 tiers on it. Vs a rom 3 for example that has space for 85 tiers. These are max numbers based on standard tier sizes. Sizes vary on specialty tiers like OB tiers used for ppv movies. So the upper limit on tiers can be a lower amount. say 30 instead of 36 if several OB ppv tiers are used. Since the OB tier is usually larger in size than a standard tier it takes up more space on the card.

So if you want say 300 channels activated with 46 tiers (singe tiers usually activate multiple channels) you won't be able to do it with a rom 2. Any of the 46 tiers will work on a rom 2 but you only have the space to store 38 tiers. But if your using a rom 3 or 10 no problem since more than 46 tiers can be stored on them.
