round dtv dish and 2800 ird

I am new to dish but i got my receiver fixed at a fellows house and he showed me it worked there. But he told me it would not work on my super dish without adapter but said that i could hook up t o my dtv dish and get half the channels. So I thought i would give that a shot before spending the money on the adapter
since I am paying for programming anyway. But I am getting zero signal and it says no switchbox detected. The cable is running from the lnb to the receiver. What do I need to do. Thanks so much for your help and patience.

It will work but like he said, only receive 1 sat location.

Thanks got 119 but only 5 ppv can I get 110 on this ird and do without the 119

You can, but you'll lose all of the channels you're currently receiving, which is basically everything but the additional PPV and Porn. If that's what you want to do then just reaim your dish at the 110 bird.
