Am I correct in assuming that you can use DTV dish and lnb to recieve BELL/DISH TV?
I know you can not do it the other way around.

You can use either dish on either, Yes. The catch is the multi switches are different, So need external switches, LNB's with internal switches are not able to be used on the other.
Example, DTV dish at 119 = Dish 300
2 DTV dishes 119 and 110 with sw21 = Dish 500
Dish 500 twin with DTV or Dish 300 and SW21= Superdish
Dish 300 works on DTV.

yes you use an old DTV sat for dish and bev , im using an old DTV 20 inch with a dual LNBs adapter for the 110 & 119 its a poor man's dish 500 set up works great and if you want add HD just add a another DTV or Dish sat and point that to 129 and just add the right switches either sw-21 or a sw-31 and u can also use this set up for fta or add another real dish or bell IRD

you can get most switches on, ebay and always connect your switches as close to the satellite as possible for better switching
