Had 2 2800's that would not Jtag (Spent hours & Days trying). I had purchased a universal Jtag with Pogo pins from another site, non-buffered. Getting frustrated I cut the POGO connector off and soldered cirectly to IRD. Still nothing and I tried all versions of Jtag SW. I ohm'd out the connections a million times and everything had connectivity even to the top of the Board.

So, what I did was zero'd the meter out (AFter replacing batteries, it would not go to 0 only to about 800 ohms) and started looking for the 1K ohm resister reading. (THe DB25 connector had the small resisters built into the PCB attached to the connector.) What I found was 0 (Zero) ohms accross the connections, they were like all shorted out, probably during the solder flow process. So I removed them all and added my own 1K ohm resisters. (Looks like a spider now. :)

Great News, I got the Box keys and saved my Tsop from the one 2800. Life is good, and patience pays in the testing world. :D

SO, if you are having a hard time getting box keys from a new universal Jtag, always check to see if you have a 1K ohm reading across the five pins. (2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-13, 6-5) and a good ground.

After going through all that, cutting off the pogo pins, soldering new resistors... you should've built your own. You wouldn't have spent as much, plus you would've been watching TV much earlier!!! LOL J/K

Unfortuneatley UR so right! I spent less than $5 to buy everthing I needed to build my own after spending 35-45 dollars for that piece of sh$t universal Jtag.

I was trying the easy way out and got burnt. Never again. LOL

And it is alright to laugh at this dumb arse, I laughed at myself when I found problem and realized I now need to build my own.
