Had a 501 for about a month now. It did not require the vidmod, had locks installed, and is running the most recent software. I have run my MC, an atmega 128 and now am using a ROM10 blue card. With ALL 3 cards I have the same issue. From time to time - every day or two - I will find the unit powering up and down over and over again. When I turn the TV on while it is doing this - no picture. The remote cannot control it during this cycling nor will the buttons on the unit itself interrupt it.
When I unplug it and it reboots - it runs fine again.
Problem is if this happens any recordings I have scheduled will not record becuase it is going through this power up power down cycle over anb over again. 2nd issue is that when I reboot it with the power cord - all my future recordings I have programmed in are gone also and have to be reloaded.
Does this sound like an ECM or a defective unit? Any help/info would be appreciated.
