I had my 501 working great with mc. I wanted to upgrade to 80 Gig hard disk. Installed 80 GB seagate drive. I flashed virgin eeprom and firmware. Everything went fine. Plugged receiver in and it got new firmware. So after stream update I turn receiver on and get " A serious problem has been detected with your hard disk drive. Error code : 04ee " Tv works put pvr not working. I tried this with 2 diff 80 GB seagate drives. Anyone have any ideas or seen this before. I have 501 dcdk receiver. Also should the drive be formatted NTFS. FAT32 before I put in IRD. I put first drive in with no partitions at all. Both drives had same problems. Thanks in advance for help.

I just did this last night and I had many of the same problems. You need to flash with VIRGIN 508 software. Find version P063 in the tsop bank. Use flash edit to put in your IRD number and keys Don’t forget to make a fresh EPROM file with flash edit too. Once you have the 2 tsops and eprom all loaded up, the 501 will think it’s a brand new 508. You wont get many channels at first. The box will go through a major download and then reload software. Don’t forget to disconnect your jtag, or your box may just sit there with a dumb look on it’s face (it will do nothing). The hard disk should have no partitions or format on it (to the best of my knowledge).
Good Luck!
