Hello,

I JTAG'ed and VidMod'ed my 301.13 (DAPA). I got this receiver off of Ebay from a guy with a ROM10 card. The card is looped and the receiver powers up and gets menus, but refuses to get a signal. I have another 301.13 purchased elsewhere that gets both sats fine, so the pointing and switches are all good.

I think this guys receiver was ECM'ed and he dumped it on ebay and I was the unfortunate guy to get it. Check switch gives me "Installed Switch: Unknown" all sat input boxes have "X"s in them. I backed up the TSOP and EEPROM from the receiver originally and FlashEdit says the checksum for the TSOP is wrong and refuses to let me open it.

As a last resort I reflashed the TSOP with a DAPA bin on the download page and created and flashed a virgin EEPROM successfully. All the same results. I have no clue what to do now.

Appreciate any help given. Thanks!

Possibly more than ECM damage, the seller himself may have damaged it trying some mod, or the ever popular lightning strike damage could have occured.

That would definately suck. I read somewhere else that someone said that the connections on the board itself to the coax connector can sometimes loosen, but I checked with a multimeter and the connector is soldered correctly.

Is there anything else I can attempt before I dump this receiver? I will replace SMD components if I have to.

Installed Jtag port, vidmod, and AR21 in it after I got it, would be quite a waste of time. Guess thats the game though. Thanks.

There is a conextant brand LNB controller chip that can fail, it is about 3/4 inches square with pins on all 4 sides, I would not even attempt to change it, although I have read of others that have. To me it would be a lot of work and then you would only be hoping that it fixed the problem. You can tie up a lot of time and some $$ and still not get it working. Look for simple fixes, and if they don't work, then replace the receiver, that's what I would do.

I have a stack of bad receivers in the closet, I hate to add to it but I also hate to spend hours on one not knowing if it can be economically repaired.

I hope your not throwing that out on ebay without notifying ppl that it has been moded and has problems.
