ROM 2 Card

I have a ROM 2 card with the original 2300 receiver. What are my testing options with this card? In other words, how do I get free TV with it? Can it get hit? How often does it get hit? How do I fix it? How does it compare to the Rom 3 and the Magic card? Please help.

I also have a ROM 3, a ROM 10 and a Magic card. What would be my best option?

1st do you have the box keys off the 2300?
if not they might be on the Rom2 but you need to read it with nagedit 1.1 to see them.
does the 2300 have a slot/hole in the bottom for jtag?

You Will Need To Get A Digitial Lock On That Receiver To Protect The Tsop From Being ECM'd. The GreyBox Receiver's Are Not Jtagable. If The Rom2 Was Ever Subbed With That Receiver, You Should Be Able To Get The BoxKeys From The Card. If The Receiver Gets ECM'd, It Would Be Cheaper To Purchase A Jtagable Receiver And Jtag Than To Try And Repair This Receiver.

2300 is a weird IRD, Never seen those get ecm'd myself although I am sure they do.

Rom 2 cannot get locked so read it for boxkeys and then stick it in and run, See if it stays up, If it does you have a cam id to play with also. Excel works better for reading and loading rom 2's I think.

Kyler - read the rom programming guide. Click on my sig. It will help you. What rom did the 2700 have.
For rom2 programming read it in xcel. Xcel is in the echostar files at the very bottom.
After you have read the card in xcel go to channels and add what u want.
Save the file as ne bin. ne=Nagra Edit also available in files section. Open nagraedit open the patch you saved in xcel, Click on write card that it. Plug and watch TV. Some advise start with a minimum package first when you are more familiar then add more.
No telling how long it will stay up, It depends on the programming if you stay up longer than an hour your are in the good I think.

It was a ROM 3 that came with the 2700.

I picked out the custom tiers. XCEL lets you write the changes on your card. The card work with the reciever but the channels are not unlocked.

I know it writes in xcel but I have heard people loop there cards writing in xcel.
