Hey Guys,
New to the hobbie. Hoping someone can help me out.
I have a DISH 2800, and am using a Magic Card.
Everything good until Sat, when I got ECM'ed. I have my boxkeys, and IRD number, however foolishly I didn't back up my TSOP as I was having issues with my JTAG.
So what do I do to get up and running again?

Go to www.bellexpress.vu and from the menu on the left choose how to instructions. From the drop down select j-tag; on that screen you will see a heading Quick ECM fix. Read that and follow step by step to get back to viewing.

Ok I tried this to no avail. Erased SA5 and let it sit in the stream for hours, both with MC in and out. No dice.
Any thoughts?

Looks like I have a major issue now.
In my frustration I did a FULL erase in Flash Edit.
Now my receiver will not even powre on. Is it totally dead, or do I have options at this point?

you need to flash your 2700/2800 tsop over i hope you have a copy of it

Hey thanks for the post.
Problem is that I do not have a TSOP backup. I guess I can subscribe to the TSOP bank to get one. However, I can't even communicate using Jkeys anymore with the unit. Power light will not come on, and thus Jkeys cannot detect it.

go to the tsop bank and down load your tsop its free here is the page

you should be able to get it there as for your jkeys it will work with out the power dont worrie about that jtaggin is for that reason try it le me know

jkeys will detect device with power light off

sounds like a problum with your jtag

or you don't have a good contact with the pads

I've had same problem getting power to receiver after full erase of tsop. I was still able to reprogram it using jkeys 2.09 after several tries but it DID work with no power to receiver. After the tsop was rewritteen successfully, plug and play man. Hope this little bit of info helps.

Hey guys,
Ok I finally got my JTAG to read and patched a new TSOP from the TSOP archive. Put in my IRD and Boxkey. That got me up and running. Can someone explain if I have to do anything with the EEPROM?
Also I am hesitant to soder. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to Softock this 2800?

I am not experienced beyond here but what I believe you should do is plug in, hook to sat feed but leave unit powered down; wait 5-30 mins. then check your info screen for the software version. It should be 797. Then do your instalation procedure. Make sure you select allow updates and do the checkswitch.
Try this, can't hurt; I assume you are going to use Magic again.
