Been out all morning trying to get Dish Network setup. I have a 301-13 that I was using to attempt to lock in on 110 & 119 until my 2800 receiver arrived, which it did about an hour ago. I am pretty confused. Here is what I have and did. Dish 500 sat, with two dual lnbf, two sw21.
I did not have a problem locking onto the 110 sat - after that it has been one mistake after another.
Am I wrong in my assumption that if you use two single dual lnbf on the dish 500, you need a sw21 to pick up 110 & 119?
No matter how I configured the set-up screen (ie; dish 301, dish 500, super dish) and do a check switch, it only sees the 110 sat. If I change it to 119, I get no signal. Have tried this with the sw21. Have tried w/o the switch on dish 301 and get 110 but not 119. Do not understand what is going on.

I also tried to hook up my 2800 receiver and it will not allow me to access the menu to set-up sat alignment - it keeps saying error please insert access card. Should I do this ? The setup screen comes on and gives receiver ID number but no access card number. Does the sys info get wiped ever time you unplug the unit ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I have left out any pertinent info that would help resolve this, please let me know.

Actually after years of Dave, it's nice to have a new challenge, but this has got me a bit baffled. Six hours in this Georgia heat and my brain is about fried.

All taken care of ...... both sats locked in, sw21 switch is working, had to move one dish over 20 feet to hit 119.

One more comment ..... I used a two dish set-up. Once I got my head out of my ass and took a good look at the compass and the direction 119 really was, I realized that my neighbor's trees were a problem. If you are not having success, do not be frustrated, the satellites are there. Look at the compass and move the freaking dish around temporarily until you get a good line of site. It is a pain but the end resultws are worth it. My signal strength is over 100 on both sats.
