Can anyone tell me if there is a way to tell if your phone is bugged?
I know years ago there was a way but I kinda forget what to listen for.

In the old days you could sometimes hear a click but now the only way to know is to buy a bug scanner from a security store.

Do a google on electronic security sites.

At current there is no way to tell if your phone is bugged, In 1997 after the communications decency act the Federal goverment covertly enacted a specification requred by Nortel. Seimens and the rest of the switch manufactures. this clia complancy is required for phone companies to receive regulatory support. Clia allows a federal/local wiretap to be done from anywhere in the country where a telephony T-1 can be sent which pretty well means if you live in the states your phone could be bugged right now (not just voice either they are forewarding data traffic too) and there is no way to know. Cell phones are no different they can be trapped and traced and the gen3 and 4 cell phones have a GPS Transponder beakon in them that can be activated by the company so they can find your exact location on the planet based on it. Isn't technology neat.
