I have been testing DTV for a number of years.

With local programming now available I would like to try my hand at testing Bev.

I have a 3100 Receiver with an access hole in the bottom of the case where I believe a jtag goes. Does the jtag just touch the motherboard connectors because I cannot see any plugins?

I also have a ROM10 card. Can I use this card?

Would someone be kind enough to post a shopping list of items I need to purchase to successfully learn to test BEV. The names of the components are confusing to a newby.

Thanks and regards, Duiz.....

the j tag has pogo pins that just make the contacts. need jtag with file j keys 201 to get boxkeys from reciever. next you need iso programer to read your card with file nagredit3 to see if card is locked.if card has been in reciever while hooked to satalite feedthen card is locked and you should use atmega128. if card isnt locked then use file nbc and program with nagredit3

Thanks for your reply - Is the following correct?

- any jtag I order should work?
- I assume the card is locked because it was subscribed.
- I need to purchase an atmega128
- what about a "tsop" lock????? Will anyone I order work?

Regards Duiz....

Get the Echopack, it has a digilock (you should ALWAYS install one when hacking) a Jtag and an atmega. If you want to hack your card (ROM) directly get an Echostar Programmer as well.

If that card has been used as maried sub which is what your avr looks like it is locked. you need the boxkeys from your reciever and a atmega our a new 3med smart card.
