I am confused about the hardware locks. I read that locks are targets for ECM, now I read that everyone should think about installing a lock. So my questions is, for all you experts, if a person is going to EMU, is it necessary to lock? I TJAGed and have all the chip's info in case my IRD gets ECMed. I have the 2700 all apart from installing a Max/Mel board, so to install a lock would be no big deal. How about giving me what you think. If a lock is detected, on an EMU system, what damage can be done, if any. Thanks for any help

I don't use locks, if I get hit, and I never have, I'll just erase the sector and go again.

If you have a jtag then it's pretty easy to fix an ECM hit. I still like to put locks on the receivers I make for friends. That way you know they won't have to bring it back for reprogramming.

There's also the risk of killing the receiver when doing a lock. I know from experience. I think it got killed when removing the r259.
