I have a programmer and unlooper u once used for dtv. Can i change the crystal out on these to work on dish if i get a 3.68 mhz crystal? How can i tell what mhz crystal my programmer is and how would i go about changing these??

If I remember correctly you had asked this question before a couple of times, and told to find out what kind of programmer you have. But anyway a crystal is a shiny component on the board with writing on it, usually 3.57MHz or 3.68MHz or 18.xx MHz.

You need to find out:

--What kind of "programmer" or "unlooper" you have, or at least describe what it is, does it have DIP switches? etc....You just can not say " I have a ..........., will it work with Dish....". How do we know if it would or not if we don't know what it is ?

To replace a crystal, you use a soldering iron to take it out and solder the new one in ... Go here and look at this picture --> http://www.tjrt.com/cdpa1.html . The two shiny things in the middle of the board are the crystals....it's got TWO crystals on it, therefore it is called a dual-crystal ISO programmer.

it has a 3.57 mhz crystal in it...

Sounds like an old ISO programmer for H-card back then. If that's the case, then it should work with the new crystal of 3.6864MHz. You can find that component @ RatShack, Fry's electronics, mom&pop local electronic shops, etc...

Don't send me anything ....

The last time someone sent me something, it opened up all of my CD/DVD drives on its own, and XP's been slower than hell since then. I called MicroSoft and they said "screw you....we're still working on Win95's ...bugs...".

Post the pic in your post ....
