sombrero program not opening

have a 7100 and waiting for the remote control to see if a memory dump will reveal its boxkeys. if not, i guess my only other alternative is to use a sombrero. well i have one of them on the way as well. my question is this, i try opening the hatrack program and i get the following message:

Hat Rack MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience

i have tried several different hatrack programs, but get the same error on all attempts. using my laptop with windows xp. any have the same problems and if so solution?

From the read me with the program it says that it will not work with windows 2000 or windows XP. They only tested with windows 98. I hope this works because I have one on the way also.
