Failed to Enter Program Mode

Guys any idea why i am getting this error
Failed to Enter Program mode on jeepers
it started to give me that error after i downloaded the mike net software and it told me to install that parralel port drivers
now i cant use jeepers or atmega128
any have a clue if its my programmer or the files that i have got messed up or how to over come this problem
ive been trying to get mike net, where did you download it from
