Good Morning All:
I recently acquired an old 3500 Dish IRD. As far as
I can tell, there are no J-Tag pads anywhere on the
board....top or bottom. Does anyone know of a way
to J-Tag it? Or any other way to get box keys??
Thanks very much.

No Jtag on it, You need the card it was subbed with and read the keys from the card. These units are not much for testing with, Usually best to use the card for something better and toss the receiver in the dumpster.

Birdie:
Thank you very much. I DO have the subbed card that was in the
receiver....but wouldn't I need a regular card programmer to read
the keys from it?? At this point all I have is Magic Card equipment.
You mentioned using the card for 'better' things....sorry, I am a
DTV refugee and am a newby to Charlie testing. Could you direct
me to some instructions as to how to make 'better' use of the
subbed card?
Thanks again for your help. :)

UPDATE:
Just thought I'd come back and post this. I hooked
up the old 3500 and with the original rom 3 card that
was in it....to read system info and see what was what.
HOLY COW!!!!! I found myself with a live
basic sub card! Don't know why the card was still
active, the guy I bought it from had everything stored
in his garage....but who am I to look a gift horse in the
mouth? :) Thank you very much, sir! Anyway, didn't
take me long to program my MC in married-sub mode.
place both cards in the slot and.....voila....all channels
open! Respectfully, the old warrior isn't ready for the
trash dumpster just yet, am watching some good free
TV on it. :)
Thanks again for all the help, guys!

Just becareful that your receiver does not get ECM'ed. If you don't have a digilock on the TSOP, the receiver can get hit and it's a pain to get it operational again unless you have the right equipment. So, before you go too far for too long, you might consider putting a digilock on the 3500!

The old subs run for awhile so you get tricked into letting your card get locked, It should be 383 stream locked now.

Xenawise:
Thank you...I will look into installing a lock
on this IRD. Assuming the card continues
to hold.
Birdie:
Thank you again also. As of right now,
the card continues to work. I'm just
thankful for every minute it does....lol
This 3500 is the only ird I have that
is in working order. Got a couple of
301.013's that are giving me problems.
Hmmm.....I had read that the magic
card could block any attempts by
Charlie to shut down or otherwise
tamper with the card....when used
in the 'piggy back' married-sub mode.
Maybe that is just hype.
Anyway, thanks again for the good info.
I'll enjoy the card while it lasts.
