Hello I got a 4000 ird from a yard sale and it did come with the remote.I have tried the blue button the all black remote and a UHF remote and a 7200 remote all nothing. This is what I have done.A hard reset.Have gone to the dishnetwork site and read everything on the 4000 ird and remote.Have left it update to the latest firmware. The front panel buttons work fine.Is there anything else I can do.It does not have a jtag port.Does the remote part of a ird ever go out?Or does the 4000 take a special remote?
Thanks :) :)

the 4000 needs a uhf remote and you need an attenna (if you don't have one cut a piece of coax about 8 inches long and strip off 4 inches on one end and connect a rg6 connector on the other end)
if you don't have an attenna plugged in it doesn't recieve so good
hope this helps

I have read in the manual that it will work with both.It does not have an attenne but I do have a new uhf remote (uhf pro) #2 will this work.I will try the coax cable thing. Thanks :)

Have you checked the remote address? It's on the main system screen.
Your IRD will work with either IR or UHF remotes.
Check page 4-35 of the manual.

All of my remotes do not have the address button they talk about in the manuals.I have tried the coax cord thing with the uhf remote I have and it does not work.Is it possible that the ird is bad.The remote they show in the manuals is a little different then any of my remotes (have 10).
Thanks :) :)

Do You Have The Blue Button Remotes? The Older Black Button Remotes Have The Address Button. Did You Download The Right Manual?

Here is a guide to set your remote address for both the 4000 and the Blue button remotes.
