Just wondering if someone can tell me if they are in Nova Scotia Canada and have Dish network running. I have ebeen attemtping to get a signal for a few weeks and no dice at all, not even a single percent. I know my equipment works because I can find the BEV signal on all the IRD's I have tested it with, it sais wrong signal but does get it. So it is not the equipment, I have tried with a normal 18 inch dish and Dual LNB and with a DP LNB and Dish 500, same crap. I have used a 7100 and 2800 IRD as well. I think it is my location, I am on a hill with a house in the SW direction with a lot of large trees in it, I have gone all over the front yard, back yard, windows from second story etc, but not the chimney on the roof, I think that is my last hope. Do I need a bigger dish maybe? This is so annoying, thanks for any help.

Yes......I have heard that a dish 500 size dish will work in the halifax area.... I am farther east in N.S. and use a 36" pan for 110 (still can only muster 55% on a few of the transponders) and use a 39" for 119 ......this one works well, an average 85% strenght, but kind of ugly though 2 big dishes in the back yard, but hey it does work. Hope this helps.

I am also farther east, I am 2 hours from halifax and exactly halfway to Sidney, So i guess i am going to need a larger dish, I have 2 24 inch dishes that i used to get bettere reception on DTV but no luck with DISH. Just curious but I am assume your using Starchoice dishes, unless your lucky enough to have a 36 inch Bell dish, how did you modify your dishes to ofit the DISH LNB's. Thanks.

O.K. I m still farther east than you... and the dish for 119 is an old bell , I just measured it accross and it is only 36", sorry my bad, and the starchoice at 110 is smaller it is 30". As far as the lnb on the starchoice, I use DTV style lnb, wrap the neck of it with eletric tape to build it up to allow the original clamp to squeze it. Also some of those dishes came with plastic inserts that can be filed down to clamp on the neck. As for as dtv I use a 48" for better reception......just goes to show how fast the footprint of these sats. drop off...... also if this helps....transponder 1 is the strongest on 110 for me, and transponder 21 on 119. Make sure you dont have your receiver on a spot beam transponder when trying to find signal.

I'm in Sydney and using a 20 inch Dish 500 dish with dual LNB. I pick up 110 at around 75 strength and 119 over 100 on all transponders. A bigger dish would be better but I need one that has the skew setting too.

I have run 110 and 119 on a 39 inch Starchoice dish and it is awesome.

I have recently acquired a 39 inch star Choice dish and I can't get any signal ata ll accept Bell ExpressVU, so therefore the signal must be getting blocked by the house and trees that are up my street and on the higher end of the hill. I am going to have to go to the Roof and pray that it is high enough, noe I just need a ladder and a concrete drill, and a bunch of other crap. Thanks for the help though, I know it is out there.

I'm in western NS, have recently converted from BEV to Dishnet @ 119. I have a DTV 18" dish and muster 75-85% signal strength. Didnt think I'd have chance due to all the trees around me.
The pan is tilted as low as it would go and with the aid of a signal meter...bingo.
O yea, love my magic card...
