My sombrero passes the test but when I try to read boxkeys with freehat it says the ird and boxkeys are all FFFFF's. And when I read with hatrack I get the wrong ird # and FF FF's for boxkeys. Any ideas?
if the test passes which I think it does to get that error.
I had fffff and it was my hat was not SNAP in on the chip.
I have this plastic clap I use to hold it steady and I put a flat hard insulated surface under the board to be sure I can apply even amout of pressure until it snaps then I clamp it down.
I also got diferent box keys evrytime I clicked get when it was not on all the way,
may not be it but will give you something to check until somebody else can get with you..
a few ideals though
if using xp make sure you open the port and check lpt settings
I am sure you have but check polarity of the connector on the hat and board has a/c power on,
you using freehat or hatrack.

I pressed very hard on the sombrero onto the chip and its working now. almost as hard as you can with one finger. thanks
great ,
I know the feeling my finger got sore too and I heard a "snap" and said Ahh haa.
weird for sure,
did you try to read them acouple of time to be sure you got the same keys. I seen ther IRD be correct a few times in a row while the box keys showed diferent before I found out to put the hat on right.

push down pretty damn hard and make sure its supported underneath the board so you dont break it. i didnt get a snap but i just pushed hard and it started working. if i didnt push down hard enough i got FFFF's
