View Full Version : J-tag question for a 3800 receiver

I recently bought a used 3800 receiver and a buffered J-tag, and so far haven't been able to read the boxkeys or back up the TSOP. When I put the red wired pin on the second pad (the TRST, I believe), and all the others lined up after that one the device id shows up as 0xFFFFFFFF in Jkeys but it won't give me anything else, however when I reverse pins with the red wired pin on the sixth pad (the TMS) it gives me a device id of 0x00000000 but still no box keys.

I've been following Mili's instruction's (I've even printed them out) and tried it on my regular PC and my laptop, but to no avail. I would think this is a generic question except for the fact that it shows 0xFFFFFFFF on one pin configuration and 0x00000000 on the reverse but I don't know what that could mean.

The instructions I got with the J-tagger showed the red wire as being TMS, wire 2 being TCK, wire 3 being TD1, wire 4 being TRST, and wire 5 being TD0. When I plugged up the receiver to my tv to check out what I was working with it showed a black screen with "error 022 - receiver not authorized".

I am definitely new to this, so I was wondering if anybody knew what was up with the J-tag or it's pin configuration for a 3800 or the error message? Any help would be most appreciated.
