Can I use my DTV dish that I have and know that it works, The dish500 dish that I purchased on ebay seems to be faulty. I cannot get a signal. I know that I will only be able to get 119 sat but I wonder what I would miss....

Redduc,

You could do exactly what Sincity suggesed and it should works fine.

But my ? is what does your dish500 come with and what did you do so far in term of aiming or setting it up, what make you think that your 500 is faulty, we need more info before we could help.

i am using a dtv eliptical dish for dishnet programming....make positively sure your MAST....the pole that your dish hangs on.....is perfectly plumb on your level......you hold your level vertical, not horizontally and check two sides...like a 90 angle of sorts...to make sure its plumb

if its off...even by a little bit.....youll have problems aiming multiple sats and your signal strengths will be low or non-existent

but your dtv dish and lnb's are compatiable with either systems......

hope this helps!

when you say your dish is bad how did you check it ? and you can always check lyngsat.com to see witch bird you like best but i would spend my time finding out whats up with your dish 500 read around setting up your dish 500 is differant than dave and i use a angel meter i bought at sears so when it says 42 evelation thats what i get also rember the skew for it . i would try for the 119 first get it over 100% and if everything is rite you should get the 110 if you have to run each one to the ird to check also if you have the dishpro (dp) in black on the front of the lnb's you don't need a switch if you don't have it you need one good luck
