I have a 1992 bmw 325i I purchased used. Changed battery,now need 4 digit computer code to start engine. Have 5 digit radio code and it works. Followed manuel instructions but don't have 4 digit computer code to enter. Tried default code 1111 to no avail. If you have any ideas they are much appreciated.

You have to call a dealer and give them your vin. On the early Beamers if you hooked up a pair of jumper cables backwards put the ground on the starter and the Hot on the frame You would blow out the security system and do some minor damage but you could steal the car BMW put the code in to prevent this from happening. You could also take your car to the BMW Garage and have them re-set it (WRITE IT DOWN when you get it)
