Hello,
I have an old (2 years) DTV recvr and round DTV dish... is it possible to convert these to be used for DishNet? Maybe repoint the DTV dish to the DishNet sat, then reflash the DTV recvr? Somthing like that?

Now that DTV is down, I'd like to use the dish and recr for something.

Thanks.

you can't use a DTV receiver for dishnet. you can however use the dish and point it to BEV (canadian dishnet).

Dish it.

You will have to install a switching device to use the dave dish with charles

i was under the impression that you needed to change the LNB and of course the IRD too.

Hey m5runner long time no see.

I'm also under the impression that many of the common 18" dishes that DTV used are not usable with DishNet since they do not have the ability to "tilt" the axis to aquire more than one satellite. At least the ones that went out with IRDs sold in the late 90's..........

The DTV dishes will work fine. You need to point one at the 110 sat. and the other at 119 to get all the channels. You will need a SW21 switch ( about $ 20 on ebay ) to make it work. The only trouble you may have is if you buy the latest disnet receiver you might need the newer LNB's and RG6 cable, but if you stick to the older to more recent receivers you will be fine. Tilt on the dish is only required with the dual focus dishes, so Yes you could NOT expect to get 2 sats. with one of the DTV dishes. You need a dishnet 500 dish or a DTV paratodos dish with the 3 lnb slots.

So why not just spend the 20 bux on a used dishnet dish?

If you can get a dishnet 500 dish for $20 go for it, you'll still need a sw 21 switch unless you get the lnb with built in switch , either way who cares you won't find one for that price.

Yes you can get both 110 and 119 sats with one 18" DTV dish. You can strap another DTV LNB to the one already mounted on the dish, and get both. Take a look on the Charlie side of Mili's for more info, and how to.

Been there done that. :)
