Event & Chanel Info

I have not recieved my Fortec yet, but have one ordered. I have read somewhere that using FTA on DISH or BEV you don't get chanel info or what is on at what time. Is this correct?

If this is the case, I assume that you can't use the"event timer" (if there is one).

This sounds kinda disappointing if true, could someone shed some light on it for me..... My wife will kill me if it is true.

I may be blowing smoke up your ass, but I think that if you use the gtools program and a channel list for the specific birds you're picking up (echo 110 and 119 for example), then you're programming the guide onto the receiver itself. So your fortec will know that history channel is channel XXXX, because you made the association for it. From there, your IRD should have a basic timer function to go to the channel you specify. Read your IRD description to find out, and look for that gtools program and a channel list.

I know about gtools for putting the guide in, but I am wondering if it will show for instance that at 9:00 pm on channel xxx A movie called xxx xxx is playing. etc.

Been running the Fortec for months now. I can label the channels but there is no guide or event description. The wife got over it but it took a good month! I set up all the channels she likes to watch in favorites so she finds them quickly!
