cam id question

I have a buddy who has a rom 10, wide open for BEV for 3 months, I was just wondering if I could use his cam ID from his instalation info screen. I guess my question is can a cam id for BEV be used for Dish on a rom 10. Also, on the info screen from the reciever, is the cam shown there the cam from the original card or from the loaded bin image?
