I was working with another 301.013 I own and had it out of the casing and flipped it over to use the Jtag pads underneath. I was using a Quad Mode Jtag and it was working fine until sparks started popping up over the board and now I can't even get a reading anymore and the power light dosen't even come on half the time. Is it fried?

I can't read any of my IRD's with that cable I used, perhaps the cable got shorted?

Hmmm....not a good sign, to say the least. You say it does power up (green light comes on occasionally)?

It was working fine no more than a couple days ago until the sparks. I did notice the light come on after it happened but now nothing. However, when I plug it in I do hear a sort of clicking sound. I know there's power going in because when I use another Jtag I get some signs that it's reading something it's just a Jtag I have for a 2700 not a 301.013. I'm not sure if I can use it for this model.

A simple jtag should read a .013. My feeling is that you may have killed your IRD. Sparks poppin out all over the board is not a good thing...lol. Try your jtag on a different IRD or try a different jtag on your .013 just to see if your jtag is shot

Maybe I'm not putting it on the right pads. The Jtag only has 6 pins on it and I have the motherboard flip over to access the pads. I was using a Quad Mode Jtag when the sparks went flying and it dosen't work on any IRD anymore but the simple Jtag just read my 2700 so I'm trying to see if I can get it to read this IRD. Everytime I connect the QM Jtag all it says..

Device ID: 0xFFFFFFFF
Device: Unknown

But when I connect the simple Jtag I get this..

Device ID 0x00000000
Device: Unknown Device

I managed to get a Device ID but it's not the correct one. So I know the IRD can be read.

Sparks=Bad... don't know how much luck you will have, but hell it's worth a shot. may have just screwed up the firmware. There is plenty of info on that reciever here!

Hey, JShin ... I've saved a bunch of DP301.013s. The sparks thing does not bode well for your IRD, but I would be happy to take a look at it ... Qrash
