Keep trying with Jkeys. If it doesn't detect, close jkeys, unplug power from IRD and remove jtag and start over. Connect jtag, apply power to IRD, open Jkeys (2.9.9). Sooner or later, you'll see that the flash programming will not be grey'd out and you'll be able to proceed.

ok, thanks. one other thing, and i do appreciate your help, I'm at work but I was trying to do the "save personal dump". after I do the first save as "U23" it goes to "files written successfully message, I thought it was supposed to throw me into the save as screen again? Also when I do a save as and name it whatever does the file extention have to be .U23 or .U22 or just for example (sradsbinu23) ? thanks this should be my last questions as I have enough to go home and get started. again thanks!

FlashEdit 1.3.1 Prolly Pretty Close to what your looking for.. If not sorry.. =(

The usage of this program (I think) is fairly straightforward. To
begin, run the FlashEdit program included in this Zip file. If it
complains on start-up that you are missing "msvbvm60.dll", you don't
have the latest run-time libraries installed. Simply do a google
search for "msvbvm60.dll", and place the file in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM
folder if you run Windows 95, 98, 98SE, or Millennium, or your
WINNT\SYSTEM32 folder if you run NT4, 2000, or XP.

Once the program is loaded, please select the IRD model you'd like to
work with from the drop-down menu. Simply click the [...] button to
locate the Flash file(s), and hit the [Read File] button.
Alternatively, you can choose file first, and it should make an
accurate guess as to what model it is from.

It should now populate the fields on the lower half of the screen. If
a field contains strange characters, or is blank, either you selected
the wrong model, or the file is corrupt.

A handy feature of this program is the ability to automagically convert
the IRD number into hex. Simply type the real IRD number into the
"IRD# (Normal)" box, and press tab, or click into another text box, and
the IRD# Hex box will be updated accordingly. No more using Windows
Calculator!

If you want to save the changes you have made, simply click the [Save
As...] box, select where you'd like to save it, and hit the Save
button. If all goes well, it should say "Save Complete!" Please note
that no changes are made to the original file at any time, and no
changes are made to any file until you hit [Save As...].

Another handy feature is the June 6th Dish ECM fix. This will allow
you to revert your receiver back to a usable state, when its has been
ECMed and only shows 1 or 2 channels. Simple turn on the "ECM Fix"
option, and save your files. It will check each file for the ECM data
"78 88 B4 4F 14" that is in corrupt files, and replace it with "FF FF
FF FF FF" that will allow you to view all channels again. I stress
that this is not a fix for the ECM: You will still get ECM'ed again,
probably within an hour of applying the fix, if the ECM is still in the
stream! For a permananent solution, new software needs to be written
for the AVR, and the ATMega128.

A helpful feature is the Save Virgin EEPROM function, which is helpful
if your EEPROM has been corrupted, through an ECM, or you are replacing
the old chip with a new one. This simply creates a 2048-byte image,
which is composed of 24 bytes located in the Flash image, and the rest
is filled with FF's. Be sure to enter the actual build config from the
sticker, as it is different from the one in the Flash.

If you are planning on uploading your files to a "TSOP Bank" (highly
recommended, to help other members of the satellite community), then
you can check the "Make Public Dump" box, to automatically blank out
the IRD# and box keys from the saved file.

To load a new file, simply [Close File] the old one, hit the [...] to
select the new file, and begin the process again.
