Found this on another forum. A few have confirmed it to work, I havent tried it yet as I am at work.
------
Find the tsop under the hard drive. Solder in a normal open switch using some very small wire Pin 16 to pin 17 worked. Held it for about 10 sec while plugging in power. Noticed that the normall blink blink during boot up hesitated and then started again. Released my button and allowed to boot up. Got stuck on a black screen. Powered off and then back on, all was OK.
PIn 16 to ground did NOT work for me at all. but pin 16 to pin 17 did.
By the way, never unhooked from sat cable, was connected the whole time so not to miss the fix.
After ecm has been repaired, the receiver can be locked by running a wire from TP109 to the third leg of CR28 found over by the connector going to the front panel. At cr28 two legs is on side of chip and one leg is at top of chip. This "one" thrid leg traces back to the mic jack and grounds TP109. If stick and empty plug in the mic jack later, it breaks the ground and allows update.

do you have any picture how to do pin 16-17? do i just jump or lift the pin up and jump? do i keep the sat conected to ird or without?
Thanks
With no card or sat plugged in, I held a small length of 24 ga. solid copper telephone wire between the pins, plugged in the unit and counted to 12. Then removed the wire shorting between the pins. (no soldering; except for the tp109 to mic tsop 'lock') Than plugged sat back in. It seriously corrupted the tsop, but after several reboots and downloads of receiver updates and listings, I'm up and running again. The key is to make sure your shorting the right two pins. Also, I am very impressed with this little trick, but it is definetely a do at your own risk procedure. I take no responsibility for any negative results that other users may experience. It did work for me though. I figured my 7100 was basically trash, so I had nothing to loose by trying it.

I just tried this, and let me tell you folks, it is just about impossible to solder anything to 16 & 17, the tsop is a very fine pitch. I just trashed my receiver trying to solder it with 24 gauge, magnifying glass, and a fine point solder iron.
If anything, do as the previous person says and just hold a 24 gauge wire between the two leads. Do at your own risk...

can somone let me know is the pin 16-17 in front of ird or back
I put the lock in place after I got the tsop stream updated. It's only one wire...hardly qualifies as a lock, but it did successfully write protect the tsop through yesterdays ECM. (for those who had it installed anyway)
There is a dimple in the front left hand corner of the tsop (U42 under the HD). Count to the right 16 pins from the dimple.

NO soldering method to fix 7200,s hit my ECM
Using in used from Webbys method
Step 1. Find a thick paper clip
Step 2. Unplug your 7200 ird
Step 3. Find U42 tsop under the harddrive unit
Step 4. Putting the front of the ird look for a circle next to the tsop chip
Step 5. From the circle count down to pin 16 and 17
Step 6. Put the paper clip so it covers both pin 16 and 17
Step 7. Plug your ird, once the light flashed differently from the norm release clip
Step 8. Check your ird location in Home> Settings > Diagnostics >Ird Info
Step 9. If locacion ID is not 0000001 turn off the receiver
Step 10. Once light has stopped flashing and receiver is off hit on remote option 7225000
Step 11. Lights should flash in all different colors on the front panel of the receiver
Step 12. Turn Ird on and hit tv listings it should download the program guide in about 10 min
Step 13. Watch TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS If by any chance the receiver after doing JYF will just stay black turn off the receiver and let it reboot and if location ID is still 00000001 try, try again!!!!!!!!
