Here is the simp-lest and coolest lock I have ever seen their are only two solderpoints (big ones). All you need is a couple inches if wire and a mic jack

after junkyard did your location id change in diagnostics, receiver info? I tried junkyard but my location id is still 00000001

Mine changed first try. And, it changed at least one more time once I started the updating.

short pin 16 and 17 on the tsop wile pluging in the IRD for 10 sec. Then let it boot and it will be fixed. i have done six do far.

I've tried 16 to 17 shorted while plugging in receiver but did not change location ID problem in sytem info screen. Had some else count pins to make surel. Can some one give detailed description please.

do you do it with the sat and card in or out? do you power down with the pins jumped or do you just take off the jumper while its on? when do you plug sat and card back in? do your unplug or press power button or what? been trying all day with no luck. thanks

all i want to know is when does the location id change???
does it change by jumping the pins? if so you don't need an update for that.
Or does the location id change with the update that is sent down via the sat???
If that is so how does that work with a switch installed???? because i don't get sat signal
with the switch installed so how would i get the update if thats what changes the location id.

By jumping the pins you corrupt the tsops and make the IRD download a fresh image. No image NO fix!

First Off STOP YELLING!!!!!!!!!!!!
Second, they took the update"image" out of the stream so your location ID won't change.
Third, It's alway the repub with the short temper that can't read before he speaks!

Also don't worry about your switch. The IRD will sent out the right tone to your switch so it can get the update.

How come there are others that say that their Location ID changes after jumping the pins... no update needed for this... so how do I get an update when I am using a multi switch? bottom line what needs to be done because this jumping these pins doesn't seem to be working.

You do need the update to change the ID back. So It looks like we will have to wait to see if they put it back.

I'm trying to put the tsops in a 2700 and jtag it. I Hope it works because I think were going to be waiting for a long time for that update.

You can also try and leave it for the 3am download. Make sure you redo the card else you might get hit again.

i have done jyf but after that i can't turn on my ird. does it mean that my system fried. no power at all. i unpluged, it turns on and green light start blinking for long time. no power after that. somebody help me please. thanks again

Sound like you ird is stuck in the update mode. I had one the same way, but left it unpluged for a couple hours and it came back on. Also the front power button did nothing at all after I shorted the pins. Had to use the remote.

What hasn't been answered and its difficult to believe we are not getting wrong information from charlie, is Do you need to do the mic lock first?....Is the lock locked?
Is the smart card in?
How do you know they took out the update? Is it permanent?
I've been told that legit subscribers with 71/7200 have been hit as well.

Should we wait to do this because of the update not being in the stream?
I'm getting ready to get a different reciever one with a lock. But I want to resurrect this one because of the personal tv. I suppose I can get the new 721 but there is no information on the box key extraction or tsop lock.

The multi satellite switch does not open and close. it switches between the 2 lnbs for sat 119 and 110. And your receiver doesn`t talk back to the satellite... LOL...had to throw that in cuz it`s a silly fact that`s been overlooked in the newbie guides. What`s a newbie guide you say ? There I go assuming again...
I think your questions have been answered I assume you know I`s just simple folk fukin witcha.

I assume if anyone does the jumper, then installs the lock, that even when update comes on, if it does, it will not write it. Correct?

So, if lock has to be left open, should there just be a clean card in, or a reprogrammed w/out PPv? Or would none in at all work?

I have a unit that still has a store demo rom3 that has everyting but PPV I will probably use, but it seems there are quite a few others asking what I am above, just not being clear on it.

i know for a fact that if i did not ask the question the way i did i would not have got ther answer i was looking for.
because i did ask in a more civil way but got just half the info .
i have looked at many other testers questions just like mine and they were all just even bits and pieces never the complete info.

The sw 1.24 is in the stream, but if your IRD was in the stream during the ECM it got updated.

Charlie updated the TSOP with some hex code so the unit will never take the update again.

thing is I have an uncourput tsop in the stream now I have to wait for the new firmware to come down which I assume is sporatically. got cams pulled on 2 and locks off waiting to se what happens.
I have a copy of some old firmware I used frehat to read it. the ones I am doing now were boards that were not in boxes when the shit came down. thats how I got old software is it was already there.
if there is a way to write it to the eprom and tsop and get a update on a non courupt tsop maybe just maybe this will work.

#1. I had a board laying around that had old software on it 115P to be specific.
I took the 124ecmed board out used sombereo to get keys and installed mic jack lock on the old board.
been in the stream for about and hour no cam mic jack UN-LOCKED and it lit up for less than a minute,
I pressed info button on front panel and sure as shit it was at 124P.
pulled tsop lock to set to locked position insert cam and it rebooted and downloaded the guide and I am watching FOX news now.

#2. had another board I pulled out of a unit that had a bad power supply and modem and put it in my other unit it was already at 123P.
did same as above but it has not updated yet. still waiting. changed plugs on the mic maybe the one I was using on that one did not open good?
This unit was not in the stream for a couple of months now and has not been in the stream for quite some time.

The update only takes a minute and it does not seem to stay in stream long.

now somebody find out how we can erase and program these 124 ecmed tsop's. so we can fix these.
I was lucky to have extra boards pulled from other units I swapped for awhile back just to have parts.
