View Full Version : Full TSOP re-write or just a sector ?

As I am new to Dish (was DTV), I am stumped about some posts which claim that "your receiver will be put into a coma if you do a full erase of the TSOP" - implying that you should just do the appropriate sector erase and let the TSOP be updated by the stream.

I have the firmware backups from my 301-010 and need to fix things following yesterday's ECM - What is the problem with just erasing both flash chips and then re-writing from my backups ? The guides in bellexpress.vu document this clearly. Is there something else we (ie. I) don't about ?

Can someone set the story straight ? (I think either method is OK)

Thanks...Rudy

It's just a lot easier to just erase SA15 on tsop 2 for the 301 than it is to do a full rewrite. Just erase 3 or 5 times and restream with no access card in slot. Receiver will do the rest itself in about 10 min.

It seems there is more than one way to do it. If you do a search for '301 ECM repair' you'll hit a thread that says to do it the way I did it for the 301.13. I figured that since my 301.10 was also a dual tsop that it should work, and it did. I don't remember who the original poster was, but it was from last fall.
