CARDS, AND BLOCKERS ARE IRRELEVANT. NO PATTERN...

We all know about the 7200s, but what about the rest?

Firmware Rev:
TSOP LOCKED?
Did you get hit?

This is my theory on what was targeted, why and how:

OK, here's the best and latest information I've been able to gather as to what's going on with yesterday's hit:

Charlie sent two EMM's (Entitlement Management Messages) that tried to write to your CAM (card) - ALL public blockers blocked them, which is what Dish was hoping for. If the EMM's were NOT written, the stream added a new 0b PPV tier (out of range, so the stream would be sure to notice) to the CAM, which was immediately picked up by the stream. Result - an instant ECM (Entitlement Control Message, a.k.a. Electronic Counter Measure) resulting in Location ID 0000001, for nearly all receivers (for some reason, the 6000's seemed to have escaped the hit) - and the never-before-hit 7100/7200's went down for the count, right along with everything else. Charlie complicated things by making the EMM's invisible to stream loggers...
CAMS (cards) were NOT damaged, other than the new Ob tier written to them. You can check, if you haven't reprogrammed your card yet...there is a new tier in place.
:)
A couple thoughts guys AND GALS... a lot of good ideas here, but noone has mentioned the rev of the firmware. The above quote talks of the stream noticing the the new tier.
Not trying to argue, but, the stream doesn`t recognize anything, it simply delivers info and poses questions to the ird. The ird processes the questions and decides which commands to process. The key here is that the tsop has to be able to recognize these questions and commands. Up until now the 7200 was too stupid to do anything. IT SEEMS HIGHLY LIKELY that the recent upgrade crammed this ability to recognize and respond into an already overcrowded tsop chip, which would explain why they`ve been acting so goofy since the upgrade.
I know very little about the 6000, but have they taken an upgrade recently?
I`ve noticed several grey boxes weren`t hit. From what I understand they have stopped upgrading several of these. And many people running tsop locks may not have taken the latest upgrades, did they get hit?
It`s obvious the 7200 was the main target, by the looks of ebay, I`d guess 90 percent or more of the 71-7200s are being used for testing.
There are also at least 2 class action lawsuits filed against echostar and web tv on behalf of all subscribers who purchased 71-7200s new. The suit simply claims the units to be defective. I wouldn`t be surprised if Charlie is behind the lawsuit, in an attempt to replace the remaining subbed units, leaving him free to blast away at the hacked receivers.
Moving on... I`ve read a lot of posts about the tier that`s been added after the first one gets blocked. Has anyone actually seen this tier ? and if this is the case, the blockerless rom2 should have the first tier that was sent, and not the second one. HERE AGAIN, It has to be firmware related because this is a new twist
and the old firmware wouldn`t have the ability to recognize and respond to questions and commands that didn`t exist.
On to the Rom2. Rom2s are always a question mark cuz some run with blockers, some don`t. There are a lot less scripts, and since many people don`t know how to edit them, a majority of the scripts are 3m, The simplest ECM target.
I also doubt there`s a rom2 phase out. It may go when the rom3 goes, but I`d guess the old dog will fight all the way to the end with his blue buddies. It`s not like a Dave card that swims in it`s own stream. Does Bev have a rom2 stream? NO. Hell they didn`t even autoroll in the old days. Can`t be hurt by the stream, only bad programming and old age.
Now since Bev doesn`t have 7100, 7200 they may not be as quick to try this new tactic, but I`m sure they`re waiting to see how this plays out. I have noticed many of Bev`s standard attacks (3ms, cam ids) are not present in the upgraded 3100s, or have been reduced to glitches and nags. I`ve been running over 2 months with no tsop lock, and that was not possible a few months ago. And since the tsop only holds so much information, I`m guessing they`ve made room and for similar questions and commands. ONCE AGAIN... FIRMWARE !
