well this is a bit complicated... you will need a magnifying glass, a paper clip or exacto knife or a metal wire.

You need to open your ird and look under the hard drive ... there is a chip with u42 next to it. That is the chip you are looking for... Now you need to count the pins from were the solid white dot (pin 1) (if you are looking at it from the front of the receiver the dot should be close to you) to your right until you see pin 16-17.

You will put the paper clip so is touching both pins 16 and 17 once you make contact with those pins you will power up your system hold clip in place for about 10-15 secs and release the clip. Let the receiver boot if you get a black screen with a solid green light wait till the green light goes off. the power up again and check your loc id.

this worked for me on 1 out of 2 receivers.

Has anyone else had success with shorting the pins.

jyf did not work for me nor a friend of mine with a 7100.

I have a 7100 which was not hit, as it was not in the stream, How to protect, or lock its TSOP, from getting f**ked?

bel... with the jy fix you have a 50% chance at restoring!!!

keep in mind that the firmware is not in the stream at the moment. Charlie pulled it a number of days ago!!! Who knows when it is going to be back.
