I have a 3100-10 with quad jtag and with recent ecm I erased sa3 2 times then 3rd time I got an error. Nothing worked after that no pwer no blinks from led nothing. I have been trying wall with the 3100 resurrect trying to write the first 60000 bytes and I can't get the power back. I'm using a quad and wondered wether it's supposed to be on the read or write pins maybe thats what i'm doing wrong
thnx for any help ,ronb

With the quad mode jtag, I just leave it on write all the time, also on 301.010 I have been erasing sa9 in flash 2 and works everytime, using jkeys 2.01 or 2.99

On the 3100 or the 301-010 (DN) You need to erase sa3 on TSOP 1. These models have two TSOP's. Then stream the receiver.

If you erased sa3 on tsop 2 then you need to reflash a image with the proper flash on both TSOP's which can be obtained from dss.ftp.com. Check the sticker on the PCB of the receiver to determine what build of firmware you need for your receiver. Of course changing the ird number and boxkeys with the flashedit software from the same site.

Jkeys was recognizing my 3100 and i managed to erase the SA3 on flash1... now i restreamed it using the combined 110,119 stream from the SW21 switch. There is power b/c i see the power (green) LED of the digilock 'on'. But the LED on the front of the 3100 doesn't come on. Is it safe to say that this receiver is restreaming and i should be patient with it, or is that an indication that its toast and i'm gonna need to reserect it???... thanks.

oh yeah, 1 more detail.. .the digilock is in the off position... unlocked.

i am almost positive that with a dish 301.010@226 you need to erase SA7 of #1 then stream to fix a loc id 00000001. It was moved with the 226 firmware. And no more softlocks using flashedit either

i think you're right.... i did the SA3 erase on flash1, jkeys did the erase so fast that i didn't even think that it erase, unless that is that is usually takes less than a second to erase, ... eventually after restreaming it, getting the update (supposedley), i flicked the digilock 'on', and popped in my atmega(valid png) and saw that i still only was getting the 2 channels and nothing else.. and then pulled the atmega only to see that my reciever is at P226, and location id 00000001
i'm assuming SA7 is the way to go , could somebody 100% confirm that SA7 is the proper sector to erase??????? thanks.

but is it the norm that SA3 on flash1 erases almost instantaneously or does it take more time for the erase process to finish????

Sounds like it didn't erase to me as well. While a sector erase is fast it's not couple seconds fast. More 5 to 10 seconds.

You can do a read of SA3 and open it up with a program line hex workshop to confirm it was erased. Done with jkeys follow just like you wanted to erase but hit the read button instead of the erase one. Save the file then check it in hexedit. It should be all FF if it was erased properly.

If not I would suspece the lock is interfering with the process. Happens sometimes. Could be several reasons from improper hookup, Poor connections, or just not disengaging right. Best thing to check that is to disconnect the WE lines (to TSOP and to CPU) The reconnect them direct or with a 330 ohm (that could be a 33 ohm resistor Been awhile since I checked but either should work). Then do the erase of SA3 on TSOP 1 and try again.

I suspect a problem with the lock. Since even if hit you should not be in a position where the 00000001 got you. Lock should have stopped it. Or was it off when you got hit?

yeahhh uhhhh...let my dad answer that one. When the ECM came down the digilock was locked and my dad saw the error message, some error i didn't see for myself since i wasn't home, but in attemps to do something about it he flicked the digilock switch to the 'unlock' position, with the Atmega still in tacked.... thats when i got fried///.. then still no results, he unplugged the receiver and plugged it back in and from then on i've only been able to get the 2 channels 101 and 9800 or something like that. Needless to say, i really need to start educating the users in my house about these things.

I pulled a bonehead the other day with a 301.10, and erased SA15 on flash 2. (as if it were a 301.13 dual tsop) It did recover from the stream just as it was supposed to. It took a little longer than normal, but it did come back. Apparently these sector eraseing guides are a little flexible. I should have erased SA3 on tsop one for the model I was working with.
