Rom 2 Help!!

I have 2 rom 2's one I'm using in a 301.010, the other in a 2800. Both cards last about 2-3 hours. On card I have AT180. No PPV, porn, locals. I used xcel to create a 052 image and tiergen to make tiers. Then I used NE 1.1 to write to card. Has always worked before 7/20. Any help would be great!!

Are You Using The Original Rom2 CAM ID#'s? Did You Select All Three, AT60, AT120 And AT180?

I am using the orginal cam id#'s. I also selected AT60, AT120 And AT180. I was using scammer to generate new cam id's but didn't help so I went back to the original.

I Have A Couple Rom2's Without PPV's Working Just Fine Using The Original CAM ID#'s. You Might Try Cleaning Your Original Image In Xcel3.6, Refresh REV052 And Clean Tiers Also.

How do you clean a rom 2? I always just write a clean 052 image to a rom2.

writing a clean 052 image is cleaning it. No worries.

Ok I got 1 of my rom 2's going with the 2800. The other with the 301.010 only lasted 5 min, but I did notice that on the system info screen the card # was all 0"s ( S00 0000 0000-00). What could be doing that?

Info on the card is no good. You might need to reprogram edit the IRD#, Boxkeys, And Camid. Most likely the camid is incorrect somewhere. Also you don't need NE1.1 to write you can use the latest.

I did redo this rom 2 by using xcel 3.64, I opened up a clean 052 image and edited ird#, cam id#, boxkeys, ect. Then I used NE1.1 to write to card. Still all 0's (S00 0000 0000-00) in system info. sukh77, are you saying that I can use NE4.1 to write to a rom 2?

Ne doesn't loop the card. If you write to the rom2 using xcel that might loop the card. I have never heard of NE looping the card. I have heard that xcel will but I never used xcel to write so I can't say that it will but have heard.

Yes you can use the latest Nagraedit to write to rom2. You might just need to put a clean rom2 image on it. I will see if I can provide that for you later. But I think you can find it in the echostar files way at the bottom somewhere not sure. let me know if you find it or not.

I tried it 2 more times and now it has a cam id# in the system info. I used xcel as always to creat a virtual image 052, edited ird#,boxkeys, ect. Then I used NE 4.1 to write to rom 2. It now works!! Thanks for all the help!!

NIce. Sorry didn't provide the clean image, got busy with other life stuff. I totally forgot about the virtual image deal in xcel. Good work.

that my rec. has a serious error. Can anybody help me with this?

Your IRD got hit, first you will need to fix that. Than you will need to see what is on the rom2 that got the IRD hit. Do a search on rom2 or find all posts posted by me you will find some programming steps for rom2 programming.

I am currently running two 4900 ird's with rom 2 card inserted in each and have not had a problem since last march. I keep two ppv tiers on the card. I use one for ppv movies that I keep tight around the movies and the other ppv string I adjust for events. I don't program porn tiers onto the card. I have friends that have had prolems and when they bring their ird's over to be jtagged and restreamed, (usually we enjoy a few beers or rum and cokes during this process) I find it's because the ppv's have been left wide open or open too far.
I usually create ne2 image with two ppv strings with RTM and write it to the card with NE 4.1. Then I open excel and read the card. Verify the Ird #, Card # and boxkeys are correct, go into data tiers and close the one ppv string by making the low and hi Id the same #. Cose the second ppv string to the lowest and highest # you see on the info screen in the ppvs. Also I change the PPV amount to 0.
I also notice that right after I write the card with ne 4.1 with the ne2 imagethat when I read it with excel the boxes don't appear to be checked. I check the boxes of the tiers I wish to include.
I don't Know if I need to pay attention to every single detail of this explaination but it works well for me.

The only thing I use xcel for is changing the IRD#, Boxkeys, Timezone.
Then I add the channels I want with Tiergen. You can find the steps I have posted. When the ppv's run out all I do is open tiergen again change the ppv numbers create a patch and apply the patch and click write So simple.

Well I am no pro at rom 2 but I did have the cam 00000 issue with excell. I just wrote the image twice in a row with excell to keep the cam id number.
