this is probably a stupid question but here it goes. can anybody tell me what the transponder value means. what is it used for?

In the old analog C-band days each transponder was a channel. Now with digital and compression each transponder can hold many channels. Certain channels are on certain transponders.

so should i be concerned about them when i aim my dish. my signal strengh is high 90's low 100's depending on the weather.

Any thing over 75 should work just fine.

I wouldn't be concerned at all as long as you have both polarities on all transponders. The only reason that a Tech would choose a particular transponder when setting up a system is to have a baseline comparison, since all transponders vary in signal strength. Also, when you exit your signal strength screen make sure the meter is green and on a good transponder, cuz that is the first place your IRD will check for info, it could speed things up.
However, the 105 is different, depending on your area certain transponders carry certain locals. I don’t know if this is relevant for you though.
