the multi switch gives you four outputs that you can send to four dtv recievers now heres the good part each out has both the dtv and antenna combined you now need to put a diplexer on the end
of the cable and that splits the out puts into dtv
and antenna (multu sw combines signals & diplexer splits them out again

Curious, I bought one those multiswitch. But when connected only lets thru the signal for the odd and not the even transponders. I thought it may be defective but the exchange works the same way. Or should I say it doesn't work, the same way. Any ideas what could be causing this.

a multi switch REQUIRES a 2 output lnb, you must use a 2 output lnb, one output supplys the even and one the odd. You must connect both inputs of the multiswitch, one to each output of the lnb.

Thank you for taking the time to answer. I've learned.

The newer dishes have a built in multiswitch, if you have an older oval then you have to get a 4 in 4 out multiswitch and a sat 'C' kit with a signal combiner for the third or center lnb.

See attached file, for question.

I think that would work ok, I don't know how far the multiswitch can be from the dish, since you have to run at least 2 cables anyway try it and see.

there is no problem having the multi switch located away from the dish I have fity foot cables
between the dish and the MS and then the same between the MS and receivers and all works fine
